Muralla urbana, Defensive wall in Niebla, Spain.

The fortification extends for 2 kilometers around the town perimeter, featuring 48 towers and 5 gates along the Tinto River banks.

The current structure dates from the 12th century Almohad period, built upon previous Roman fortifications from the 1st century CE.

The walls incorporate Moorish military architecture with gates designed in a bent entrance pattern, reflecting medieval Islamic defensive strategies.

Visitors can access the five main gates: Puerta del Agua, Puerta del Buey, Puerta del Socorro, Puerta del Agujero, and Puerta de Sevilla.

The walls witnessed the first recorded use of gunpowder in the Iberian Peninsula during the Christian conquest by Alfonso X in 1262.
