Pikkala Manor, Manor house in Siuntio, Finland.
Pikkala Manor is a manor house in Siuntio with a tree-lined sand avenue leading to its entrance. The estate contains multiple structures spanning different periods, including an eighteenth-century bakery cottage and a 1913 art nouveau stable building.
The original estate was established in 1590 by the Fleming family and later relocated to a different site. The current main building was constructed in 1850, during the period when such manor houses were built across Finland.
The main building displays Empire style architecture that was common for Finnish manor houses in the 1800s. This design choice shaped how the estate looks and feels today.
The estate includes multiple buildings and areas to explore, which requires time for a thorough visit. The sand avenue can be difficult to walk on during rain or wet weather, so sturdy footwear is recommended.
After World War II, during the Soviet lease period, approximately twenty families lived in the manor house. Traces of this time remain visible today, such as the numerous stoves that were later discovered throughout the building.
