The church was built between 1938 and 1939 to honor James Hannington, the first Bishop of East Equatorial Africa who died in Uganda in 1885.
The interior design incorporates martyrdom themes, with travertine floors in the chancel and locally sourced beech wood throughout the nave space.
The church conducts Sunday services at 8 AM, 10 AM, and 6:30 PM, while offering facilities for youth programs and small group studies.
Edward Maufe, the architect responsible for Guildford Cathedral, designed this Grade II listed building with a distinctive tall pointed arch western entrance.
