Lewis Textile Museum, Industrial heritage museum in Blackburn, United Kingdom
The Lewis Textile Museum occupies a Victorian building with palazzo architectural features and displays an extensive collection of historical textile machinery and manufacturing equipment.
Established in 1934 by Thomas Boys Lewis, the museum chronicles the evolution of cotton trade through working replicas of Hargreaves' Spinning Jenny and Crompton's Mule.
The institution preserves the industrial legacy of Blackburn through exhibitions of textile machinery, manufacturing processes, and artifacts from local cotton production history.
The museum collection relocated to Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery in 2007, where visitors can explore the exhibits in the new CottonTown gallery.
Edward Hart contributed 500 rare books and 6,000 ancient coins to the museum collection, valued at £60,000 during the 1940s.
