St Mary Magdalene Church, Gedney

The St Mary Magdalene Church features a tower reaching 86 feet at its parapet, with Early English design in lower sections and Perpendicular style above.

Dating from 1250, the church underwent substantial restoration in 1890, during which workers discovered a brass figure from 1390 depicting a woman with a puppy.

The building contains significant medieval art, including remnants of a 14th-century Jesse window and a damaged 13th-century effigy of a cross-legged knight.

Monthly Morning Prayer services take place on the third Sunday at 11 a.m., lasting 45 minutes, with arrangements for baptisms and weddings through the Deanery Administrator.

The church maintains Jacobean alabaster monuments from 1605 showing Adlard Welby, his wife Cassandra, and their five children.
