Temple Mill Island, River island in Thames Valley, England
Temple Mill Island is a residential enclave of 62 homes situated in the River Thames between Marlow and Temple Lock. Each property has private gardens, direct moorings, and access to a marina facility.
The island was once home to three water-powered mills that processed copper and brass into finished goods. This industrial operation was documented during the early 1700s as a significant manufacturing center.
The island's past as an industrial site shaped how residents today relate to the Thames. Water remains central to daily life here, connecting people to the river and its traditions.
Visitors can view the island from public riverside areas and nearby paths, which offer good vantage points for seeing the layout and waterside setting. Boating on the Thames provides another way to appreciate the property arrangement and the island's relationship with the river.
The island retains its name from the original mills that once stood here, though little physical evidence of those structures remains above ground today. This creates a connection between modern residential life and the vanished industrial past.
