Christ Church, Melplash, Anglican church in Melplash, England.
Christ Church is an Anglican church with a cross-shaped design built from local rubble stone and dressed with Ham Hill stone. It features a central tower, side transepts, and a chancel that ends in a rounded apse.
The church was designed by Benjamin Ferrey in 1845 and 1846, with construction funded by James Bandinel in memory of his father, a local vicar. This project reflected 19th-century efforts to build new religious structures.
Inside you can see a 15th-century altar-tomb with an alabaster effigy dressed in plate armor, which belonged to a member of the More family. This carved figure tells a story about the people who once lived in this area.
The building is open to visitors during designated times and continues to host regular worship services. It is best to check ahead for when you can visit, as opening times are limited.
The nave features a wall-arcade with three sections, creating an interesting visual detail in the main worship space. A round window divided into eight segments sits above, adding a subtle geometric feature to the building's design.
