Cannon Hall, Grade II* listed house in Hampstead, England

Cannon Hall is a three-story brick residence with six bedrooms, a billiards room, library, study, conservatory, and indoor swimming pool. The property sits on half an acre with extensive lawn spaces and mature trees near Hampstead Heath.

The house was originally known as Rous's Buildings around 1720, but in 1838 James Cosmo Melvill renamed it after cannons he placed on the property. This renaming marked a turning point in the residence's history and its standing in the area.

The house was long home to the du Maurier family and reflects their life in this affluent neighborhood. The rooms tell the story of an era when such residences were gathering places for artists and writers.

The house sits in a quiet area with easy access to Hampstead Heath and local shops, making it a well-located address. Visitors should note that the gardens and interior spaces are generously sized and require time to explore.

The building features a weatherboarded clock tower and a bell turret in its stable block, both unusual architectural elements for a house. It also appeared in well-known films like Bunny Lake is Missing and Tenet, where it served as a film location.
