St Mary's Church

St Mary's Church is a stone building with a three-bay nave and an apsidal chancel topped by a slate roof, featuring Doric columns that frame the entrance. The structure displays clear Georgian proportions and classical details that define its architectural character.

The church was built in 1828 and underwent extension later in the 1800s to accommodate a growing congregation. These additions show how the building adapted to serve the community's changing needs over time.

The interior reflects the community's faith through large paintings in the apse and detailed artistic elements that tell religious stories. The 1877 alabaster font resting on marble shafts serves as a focal point for worship and demonstrates how the space has been shaped by generations of devotion.

The entrance with its Doric columns is clearly visible and easy to identify when approaching from the village. Visitors should check opening times beforehand if they wish to view the interior details and artwork.

The west gable displays three rectangular panels and an ornamental section with entwined initials, crowned by a small bellcote that stands out from the roofline. This personalised detail adds character beyond typical Georgian design and invites closer inspection.
