Blitz and Pieces, World War II museum in Ormesby St Margaret with Scratby, England.
Blitz and Pieces is a World War II and Dad's Army museum in Norfolk housed across multiple buildings including a 1940s prefabricated structure, a 1930s wooden military hut, and several large storage sheds. The collection focuses on wartime memorabilia and objects connected to the classic British television series.
The collection began when founder Darren Stride inherited World War II memorabilia from his grandfather John Fenton, who served in the Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regiment. Over time, the inherited items grew into a comprehensive museum dedicated to both the war and the Dad's Army television series.
The museum displays a recreated wartime street with period shops, a 1940s kitchen, and an Anderson shelter filled with military artifacts. Visitors can see how people lived during the war and what objects filled their homes and shelters during air raids.
Visitors must schedule appointments in advance to explore the collection. Booking ahead ensures the museum is prepared to welcome you and that your visit can be properly arranged.
The museum houses half of the original string used in the Dad's Army episode The Deadly Attachment, displayed within a recreated Captain Mainwaring's office. This artifact connects visitors directly to a memorable moment from the beloved television series.
