Whittington Tump

Whittington Tump is an oval-shaped earthwork that rises prominently above the surrounding valley floor. Its northern slopes show clear signs of artificial reinforcement, creating a distinctive mound that stands out in the landscape.

The site shows evidence of occupation spanning multiple periods, from Roman and Anglo-Saxon times onward. By the medieval period, a manor house was established at its base, leaving traces that remain visible today.
