Lancashire Fusiliers War Memorial

The Lancashire Fusiliers War Memorial is a tall stone obelisk made from Portland stone, featuring the regimental cap badge and a wreath carved near its peak. It stands in a garden setting in front of the Fusilier Museum, creating a focal point where visitors gather.

The memorial was unveiled in 1922, created to honor soldiers who died during the First World War. The regiment suffered heavy losses at a Mediterranean landing, which became central to its military story.

The garden space is named after the Gallipoli landings, directly reflecting the event's importance to the regiment's story. This naming shows how the location has been shaped to honor a defining moment in the unit's past.

The 1922 unveiling ceremony used an electric button to officially activate the memorial during the dedication. Funds left over from the project also went toward supporting instruments and aid programs for veterans.
