Co-Coperative Emporium And Danum House, Grade II listed building in Doncaster, England
The building features a five-storey central block with brick cladding, three-storey wings with Vitrolite tiles, and a glazed staircase tower in the center.
Construction of the Co-operative Emporium took place from 1938 to 1940 under the direction of local architect Henry Arthur Johnson for the Doncaster Co-operative Society.
The third floor ballroom hosted performances by notable musicians including The Beatles, Johnny Dankworth, and Cleo Laine before becoming a nightclub.
The upper floors of Danum House underwent renovations in 2019, resulting in the creation of 78 residential apartments with a rooftop cinema.
Racing driver James Hunt was arrested at the building's nightclub following an incident with a security staff member during its operation as an entertainment venue.
