Ampney Park, Grade II listed building in Ampney Crucis, England
Ampney Park is a stone manor house featuring slate roofs, oak-paneled interiors, decorative plaster ceilings, and nine bedrooms distributed across multiple floors. The grounds include terraced gardens, a lake, water features, and facilities for tennis and horseback riding.
John Pleydell completed the manor in the late 16th century, and successive owners added rooms and features over the next 200 years. This gradual expansion transformed it from a smaller residence into the large estate it is today.
The billiard room displays stained glass windows showing coats of arms from multiple families who owned the property over the centuries. These windows serve as a visual record of the different households who called this place home.
The grounds are surrounded by open lawns and water features that you can explore on foot. You can easily reach different areas of the property including the gardens and recreational facilities from the main buildings.
During the 1960s the manor housed students from Cirencester Agricultural College. It later became a hotel in 1982, transforming its role from an educational space to a hospitality venue.
