The palace displays a three-level facade with Corinthian columns, arched doors, and balustrades facing the Grand Canal between Palazzo Corner Valmarana and Rio di San Luca.
Michele Sanmicheli designed the palace for procurator Gerolamo Grimani in 1557, with Gian Giacomo de Grigi completing construction after Sanmicheli's death in 1561.
The architectural design of Palazzo Grimani influenced American architecture, serving as a model for the Tiffany and Company Building in New York by Stanford White.
The palace currently functions as Venice's Appeal Court, maintaining its structural integrity while serving as an administrative center for legal proceedings.
Following the fall of the Venetian Republic, the building narrowly escaped demolition when Austrian authorities purchased it and established their postal headquarters within.
