Ca' Farsetti, Medieval palace near Rialto Bridge, Venice, Italy
Ca' Farsetti is a medieval palace in San Marco beside the Rialto Bridge that rises across three stories. Its ground floor features a loggia with Corinthian columns, while the main level has fifteen connected arcades running along the facade.
The family of Doge Enrico Dandolo built the structure in the early 1300s. A major fire in 1524 damaged it considerably, though it was later restored and continued in use.
The building shows a mix of Byzantine arches and Venetian design elements that you can see in its columns and walkways. This combination reflects how the city absorbed different architectural influences over time and made them its own.
The building now functions as Venice's town hall and administrative center. It is best viewed from the street, where you can see the full facade and its architectural details without needing special access.
The palace hosted the wedding ceremony of George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin in September 2014, one of the most notable social events in Venice at that time. This occasion brought temporary world attention to this less-known location.
