Museum of Classic Sci-Fi, Science fiction museum in Allendale, England
Museum of Classic Sci-Fi is a science fiction museum housed in a Grade II listed building in Allendale that displays over 200 original props, costumes, and artworks from classic films and television productions. The collection is organized within custom-built display stands designed to showcase each carefully restored item.
The museum was founded by Neil Cole with the aim of preserving important artifacts from science fiction media and creating a dedicated space for such collections. Custom-designed display stands were developed to properly present each restored object in the building.
The collection displays hand-painted animation cells from classic television cartoons, including Iron Man, The Fantastic Four, and The X-Men series. These artworks offer insight into the visual techniques that brought science fiction storytelling to life on screen.
The museum is located in the North Pennines region and maintains regular opening hours year-round for visitors. You can contact the venue directly through email at classicscifimuseum@gmail.com to confirm visit times and learn about current displays.
The collection includes original published artworks by Andrew Skilleter, Colin Howard, and Pete Wallbank that showcase their contributions to Doctor Who productions. These rare illustrations are displayed here and offer a direct look at the creative processes behind the series' visual design.
