The Perseverance, Grade II listed Victorian pub in Bloomsbury, London.
The Perseverance is a Grade II listed Victorian pub in a three-story brick building at the corner of Lamb's Conduit Street and Great Ormond Street, with curved stucco corner details and glazed entrance doors. An upstairs dining room serves thin-based pizzas prepared on-site.
The building was known as The Sun in the early 19th century and changed names several times before becoming The Perseverance in 2005. A cast-iron column inside remains from those earlier years.
The pub draws together neighbors and visitors for regular Thursday quiz nights and Sunday cask ale tastings that shape everyday gatherings in the area. These events give the place a social role in the community.
The establishment accepts card payments only, so visitors should not rely on cash. The layout offers drinking space downstairs and dining space upstairs, making it flexible for different types of visits.
Market Taverns acquired the building in 2016, which previously housed the Bloomsbury Brewery and now continues its legacy as a real ale house. In summer, three taps are dedicated to serving cider.
