Kingston House, Kingston upon Hull, Office tower in Kingston upon Hull, England.
Kingston House is an office building in Kingston upon Hull with a twelve-story concrete tower connected to three-story wings on both sides. The structure spreads across more than 11,000 square meters and once housed city council and police offices.
Construction of Kingston House began in 1965 on a site heavily damaged by World War II bombing that destroyed many Georgian buildings in the area. The project was part of the city's post-war rebuilding efforts.
The building shows the design language of the post-war period that changed many British city centers in the 1960s and introduced new forms of urban living. The clean lines and open structure still shape the appearance of this area today.
The building is located downtown and easily reached on foot, with the concrete structure serving as a clear landmark for orientation. Visitors should note that the site is currently undergoing redevelopment and access may be restricted to certain areas.
The building underwent a major transformation starting in 2017 through the K2 project, which introduced mixed-use development with apartments and a hotel, redefining the post-war office structure's purpose. This shift shows how older buildings are adapted to meet new urban needs.
