Baguio Botanical Garden, Botanical garden in Baguio, Philippines
Baguio Botanical Garden is a botanical garden in Baguio, Philippines, that presents a variety of plants including dahlias, cacti, orchids and succulents along winding paths. A dedicated section grows sunflowers and draws many visitors during bloom season.
The garden was established during American colonial rule and originally housed a zoo. In 1970 it was converted into Imelda Park before taking its current form as a botanical garden.
Traditional huts scattered through the grounds reflect building styles from different indigenous mountain communities and invite visitors to observe forms and materials up close. These replicas offer a sense of how people in the region lived in the highlands.
The garden offers ramps, restrooms and parking areas to make access easier for all visitors. Paths wind through the grounds and allow exploration at your own pace.
A 150-meter tunnel on the grounds was dug by Japanese soldiers during World War II. This underground passage recalls the military occupation and lies off the main paths among the plants.
