Centro das Artes - Casa das Mudas

The Centro das Artes - Casa das Mudas spans 12,000 square meters and contains exhibition spaces, an auditorium, a library, and underground parking for 92 vehicles.

The museum opened in 1992 as part of the regional government's initiative to expand cultural facilities across Madeira Island through the Ponta do Oeste Development Society.

The center maintains a collection of contemporary artworks, including paintings, sculptures, and installations, while organizing exhibitions that feature both local and international artists.

Located twenty minutes from Funchal, the museum provides various facilities including a restaurant, cafe, bookstore, and an auditorium equipped with simultaneous translation cabins.

The architectural structure, designed by Paulo David, integrates into a cliff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, combining contemporary design with the natural landscape of Madeira.
