InterContinental Davos

InterContinental Davos is a contemporary hotel characterized by a champagne-colored facade composed of individually crafted steel panels arranged in flowing waves. The design echoes the surrounding mountain peaks while establishing a modern architectural landmark within the Alpine resort.

The hotel opened in 2013, designed by the Dutch architecture firm Mecanoo as a contemporary addition to the established Alpine resort. Its arrival introduced a new architectural language to the town's traditional landscape.

The structure incorporates elements of Swiss Alpine design through its geometric form, while maintaining modern architectural principles in its steel construction methods.

Access is straightforward from street level, and the modern layout helps with navigation inside. Keep in mind this is primarily a private hotel building, though the restaurants and bars welcome outside visitors.

The facade comprises over 700 individually designed steel panels, each crafted separately and assembled to create a continuous wave effect. This level of precision in exterior detailing is unusual for contemporary hotel buildings.
