Schwarzerden, Historical municipality in Hunsrück region, Germany.

Schwarzerden is a settlement in the Hunsrück region located approximately 450 meters (1,475 feet) above sea level on roughly 3 square kilometers of land. The area is characterized by extensive forest coverage that dominates the landscape surrounding the village.

The settlement first appeared in written records in 1325 when Prince-Archbishop Baldwin of Luxembourg acquired rights in the area. This early connection to regional powers shaped how the place developed during medieval times.

The settlement serves as a gathering place for residents through sports clubs and volunteer organizations that shape daily community life. These local activities give the village its social character and rhythm.

The village is accessible by regional roads, with Kreisstraße 15 serving as the main connection linking to larger highways in the area. Routes extend northward toward Landesstraße 229 and southward toward the Simmertal valley.

Just northeast of the settlement stands the ancient Celtic ringwall Alteburg, topped with a tower that opens up views across the surrounding hills. This prehistoric site reveals that the area had inhabitants long before medieval times.
