St. Laurentius, Catholic church in Kalbach, Germany
St. Laurentius is a church building in Kalbach designed in baroque style and located on an elevated site in the town center. The exterior features tall round-arched windows and a steeply pitched slate roof topped with a tower.
The current baroque structure replaced a wooden church starting in 1733 and was completed by 1765 under the direction of Tyrolean master builder Christian Fritz. This project marked an important renewal of the community's church architecture.
The interior features baroque decorations and houses altars moved from the previous church, including the main altar from 1700. These furnishings tell the story of the community's religious life across generations.
Access to the interior is usually possible during worship times, with opening hours varying by season. Visitors should keep in mind this is an active place of worship where respectful behavior is expected.
The foundation stones come from the Kreuzergut quarry and include remnants of the destroyed church of Crutzen, reusing materials from earlier structures. This practice directly connected the new construction to the settlement's past.
