Playa de El Berrón

Playa de El Berrón is a gravel beach on the Cantabrian coast with a surface of rounded pebbles in shades of gray and white. The shoreline slopes gradually, and waves flow between the stones as the water rises and falls with the tides.

The beach formed through natural erosion and wave action over millennia, as currents moved stones and shaped the coastal landscape. Human activity has left the shoreline relatively untouched throughout the region's recorded past.

Local residents actively participate in conservation efforts to protect the beach from artificial modifications, maintaining its natural characteristics for future generations.

The beach is accessible via minor roads from the N-634 highway, with parking available a short walk away. Visitors should bring wind-resistant clothing, as the exposed location experiences consistent sea breezes.

Unlike sand beaches, the pebbles here create a distinctive crunching and clapping sound when waves strike them and when you walk across them. This auditory experience is one of the first things visitors notice upon arriving.
