Château de Sallanches, Medieval fortress ruins in Cordon, France

The Château de Sallanches stands at an elevation of 670 meters, with remaining walls and an isolated watchtower marking its former military presence.

The fortress served as the administrative center of a castellany between the 13th and 15th centuries under the control of the House of Faucigny.

The castle site represents the medieval power structure of Haute-Savoie, where noble families maintained authority through strategic fortifications.

The remains of the castle are divided into several private properties, limiting access to sections of the historical structure.

Archaeological studies by Louis Blondel revealed the castle's central keep and outer bailey, confirming its original defensive layout.
