Leicester Haymarket Theatre, Indoor theatre near Belgrave Gate, Leicester, England
The theatre building contains a main auditorium with 901 seats, making it one of the largest performance spaces in England.
Sir Ralph Richardson opened the theatre with a performance of The Recruiting Officer on October 17, 1973, marking the beginning of its cultural legacy.
Throughout its history, the theatre hosted many notable performers including Julie Walters in Macbeth and Sir Anthony Hopkins in M Butterfly.
The Leicester Theatre Trust managed the venue from its establishment until 2007, when it closed before reopening under new management in 2017.
The Metal Tree sculpture by Hubert Dalwood, installed in 1974, stands outside the theatre as the first major abstract artwork in Leicester.
