The four-lane Wentbridge Viaduct stretches 472 feet across the River Went valley, reaching a height of 100 feet above the water level.
The construction of this prestressed concrete structure in 1961 replaced a narrow medieval bridge that caused traffic congestion in Wentbridge village.
The engineering excellence of Wentbridge Viaduct earned recognition from the Royal Fine Art Commission and New York's Museum of Modern Art.
The viaduct handles 86,000 vehicles daily on the A1 road, connecting communities while undergoing maintenance works scheduled until summer 2025.
The bridge incorporated Freyssinet Hinges in its design, marking the first use of this engineering feature in the United Kingdom.
