32 Lincoln's Inn Fields, Neo-Jacobean university building in Lincoln's Inn Fields, England
This building at Lincoln's Inn Fields is a Neo-Jacobean structure with prominent red brick facades and stone details that rises across multiple floors. Inside, it contains lecture theaters designed in Harvard style, study areas, and a cafeteria spread across approximately 10,000 square meters.
Its origins lie in two construction phases between 1903 and 1913, when it was designed as the main office for HM Land Registry. The architectural style was inspired by Blickling Hall in Norfolk.
The building now serves as home to the London School of Economics and houses several of its research institutions. Students and researchers use its spaces daily for lectures and academic work.
The building is accessible and equipped with internal facilities including study spaces and a cafeteria for visitors and students. The generous rooms and clear layout make it easy to navigate around the complex.
The building was renamed in 2023 after Sir Arthur Lewis, an economist who was the first black academic faculty member at the London School of Economics. This naming honors an important milestone in the university's history.
