The Grade I listed Thematic House features a central circular staircase, curved roofs, large conservatories, and rooms organized according to four seasonal zones.
Charles Jencks and Terry Farrell transformed this 1840s end-of-terrace villa between 1978 and 1985, creating a statement of postmodern architectural design.
The interior incorporates numerous symbolic elements, including pedimented bookshelves, a sundial window seat, and a jacuzzi housed within an inverted classical dome.
The building opened to the public as The Cosmic House in September 2021, allowing visitors to explore its architectural features through scheduled appointments.
Natural light flows through the Solar Stair and Moonwell, a semi-circular structure that directs illumination into the darker sections of the building.
