Westminster House

Westminster House is a seven-story office building on Portland Street featuring bands of glazing with red brick accents across its facade. The ground floor contains retail spaces, while the upper levels provide office accommodation for multiple businesses, including technology company Arm Limited.

The building served as the headquarters for Greater Manchester County Council from 1974 until 1986, when the council was dissolved by the national government. This period shaped the city's administrative development.

The building reflects how Manchester approached design during the 1970s, when municipal structures began adopting modern commercial aesthetics. This shift shows how the city's architecture changed from tradition to contemporary practice.

After a major renovation in 2017, the building received a new address as 11 Portland Street, moving away from its original Westminster House name. This renaming marked the beginning of a fresh chapter following the extensive restoration work.
