Shire Hall, Cambridge, Town hall on Castle Hill, Cambridge, England

The Neo-Georgian building features fifteen bays facing Castle Hill with pilasters and a stone balcony across its main facade.

Built in 1932, the structure incorporates bricks from a previous prison and replaced the former County Hall located on Hobson Street.

The Shire Hall functioned as the primary center for local government decisions and public meetings in Cambridgeshire for nearly 90 years.

The building housed Cambridgeshire County Council until 2021, when operations moved to New Shire Hall at Alconbury Weald, 23 miles away.

During the 1960s, an office building called The Octagon was added to the complex, followed by a nuclear bunker in 1989.
