Prince Llewellyn quarry, Slate quarry in Lledr Valley, United Kingdom.

Prince Llewellyn quarry is a slate extraction site in Lledr Valley with multiple working levels and old industrial structures visible across the landscape. The site sits at about 200 meters elevation and shows different phases of mining activity.

Slate extraction began here in 1820 and expanded significantly during the 1840s with new processing facilities. This growth made it an important centre in the Welsh slate industry.

The quarry takes its name from Prince Llywelyn ap Gruffudd, linking the slate industry to Welsh heritage and identity. Visitors can see how this site reflects the working life that shaped the region.

The site requires careful navigation over mountain paths and can be challenging in poor weather. Sturdy footwear and caution are needed to safely explore the uneven terrain and old pit areas.

This site housed the last working sandsaw mill in the Welsh slate industry, operating until 1934. The building and machinery show the skilled processing work that took place here.
