George Meehan House features a symmetrical main frontage with three bays and Doric order columns flanking the central ground floor doorway.

The building, constructed in 1865 for East India Company merchant Thomas William Smith Oakes, served as headquarters for Wood Green Urban District Council from 1913.

Catherine Smithies, founder of the Band of Mercy animal welfare group that merged with RSPCA, resided in this house during the mid-19th century.

The Earlham Suite contains three ceremony rooms: Woodside Room for 79 people, Westbury Room for 52 people, and Earlham Room for 22 people.

The private garden includes formal flower beds, a pergola with trailing plants, a wild meadow area, and established trees for outdoor ceremonies.
