Aylesbury Clock Tower, Victorian clock tower in Market Square, Aylesbury, United Kingdom.
The Aylesbury Clock Tower is a Victorian stone structure that rises 22 meters above Market Square in the center of town. Its four clock faces are visible from different directions, and detailed stone craftsmanship adorns the entire structure.
The original market house was demolished in 1866, leading architect D. Brandon to design this tower as a replacement. Construction was completed in 1876 as part of improvements to Market Square.
The clock tower functions as a central gathering place where residents meet daily and community events take place. It has become the natural heart of the town's social and commercial life.
The clock tower stands freely accessible in the center of Market Square where visitors can approach it from any direction. The bell chimes on the hour, making it easy to orientate yourself by the sound.
Architect D. Brandon designed not only this tower but also the adjacent Corn Exchange, creating a unified architectural appearance across the square. Both buildings reflect his distinctive Victorian style that helped shape the town's character.
