Chatelherault Country Park

The 500-acre park contains woodland areas, grassed spaces, and more than ten miles of walking paths along the Avon River tributary.
The name originates from Châtellerault, a French title granted to James Hamilton in 1548 for arranging Mary Queen of Scots' marriage to Francis.
The William Adam designed hunting lodge from 1734 features Georgian architecture with four pavilions, formal gardens, and historical exhibitions about the region.
The visitor center includes a cafe, gift shop, adventure playground, and multiple picnic areas throughout the landscaped grounds.
The park maintains a herd of white Cadzow cattle with long horns, descendants of ancient Scottish wild cattle from medieval hunting forests.
