Bouncer's Lane Cemetery, Grade II listed burial ground in Cheltenham, England.
Bouncer's Lane Cemetery is a 65-acre burial ground in Cheltenham featuring Gothic chapels linked by a covered carriage entrance. The grounds contain mature trees, landscaped sections, traditional burial plots, and a crematorium built in 1938.
The cemetery was established in 1864 by Cheltenham's Improvement Commissioners' Burial Board and designed by architect William Henry Knight. It was created to serve the burial needs of the expanding spa town during that period.
The Gothic chapels show Victorian design principles and connect through a covered carriage entrance that anchors the center. Visitors can observe how the grounds function as a place of remembrance, with winding paths linking burial sections from different periods.
The grounds are accessible on foot with winding paths throughout the site that are generally easy to navigate. Wear sturdy footwear as paths can be uneven, and allow extra time during wet months when conditions may be muddy.
The grounds hold 183 war graves honoring Commonwealth service personnel and Polish military members from both World Wars. It also serves as the final resting place for notable figures including Welsh poet William Henry Davies and founding Rolling Stones member Brian Jones.
