Balbirnie Stone Circle, Neolithic stone circle in Glenrothes, Scotland.
The stone circle consists of ten standing stones arranged in an elliptical pattern, measuring 15 by 14 meters around a rectangular central slab setting.
Archaeological excavations in 1970 revealed multiple phases of use from the late Neolithic period through the second millennium BC, including cremation burials and ritual activities.
The stone formation contains carved cup and ring marks on several stones, demonstrating the advanced artistic capabilities of prehistoric Scottish communities.
Visitors can access the stone circle by taking the minor road east of the B969 junction on the A92, with designated parking spaces near the site.
The entire stone circle was carefully dismantled and reconstructed at a new location in 1970 to preserve it from road construction while maintaining its original configuration.
