Hastings Unitarian Church

Hastings Unitarian Church is a Neoclassical place of worship located near the town's railway station. The building displays rendered brick walls, arcaded blind arches running along both sides, and an interior pulpit supported by cast iron posts.

The congregation formed in 1858 and initially gathered in a music hall and the Swan Hotel before acquiring their own building in 1868. This happened through the efforts of John Bowring, a figure who played a key role in establishing their permanent home.

The church welcomes individuals from various backgrounds to explore their beliefs, drawing inspiration from nature, art, science, and different religious traditions.

The church is within easy walking distance of the railway station, making it simple to reach on foot. Services and community activities happen regularly, so visitors should check ahead to find the best time to visit and step inside.

The building houses a Snetzler organ made in 1760 that journeyed through three different Unitarian churches before arriving here in 1930. This rare instrument survived multiple moves and communities, becoming a living link across generations of worshippers.
