Equestrian statue of Edward Horner, Bronze equestrian memorial in St Andrew's Church, Mells, United Kingdom

The statue portrays Edward Horner as a cavalry officer mounted on a horse, with his helmet and sword placed upon the saddle.

Edward Horner, the heir of Mells Manor, died from wounds sustained during the Battle of Cambrai on November 21, 1917, at age 29.

The bronze monument represents the extensive losses of upper-class British families during World War I through personalized commemorative art.

The memorial stands inside St Andrew's Church, relocated from the Horner family chapel in 2007 to create additional space for church activities.

Alfred Munnings, primarily known for painting, created this sculpture as his first public work, recasting the head after initial dissatisfaction.
