Babington House, Manor house in Kilmersdon, England.
Babington House is a Georgian manor in Kilmersdon with traditional English architecture featuring a stable block, an orangery, and extensive gardens. Five informal pools are scattered through the landscaped grounds, creating distinct focal points across the rolling estate.
Built around 1705 for Henry Mompesson, the house passed through several owners over the centuries. It remained in private hands until 1951, when the pianist Dora Bright left as its final resident.
The Grade II* listed property connects to St Margaret's Church, where ceremonies take place alongside events in the converted orangery throughout the year.
The property operates as a hotel and private members club offering rooms and event venues. Access to the grounds and gardens should be confirmed beforehand, as opening may be limited for general visitors.
The five pools were created in the 19th century within a shallow valley surrounded by mature trees that shape the landscape. This arrangement was later recognized as historically valuable and is now protected.
