The courthouse maintains a statue of Major Francis Aglionby, former parliament member, sculpted by Musgrave Watson and relocated from Carlisle Citadel.
The facility operates five courtrooms handling criminal and civil cases, with crown counter hours from 9 AM to 5 PM and county counter from 10 AM to 2 PM.
The building stands on the former site of Hetherington's Cattle Auction Market, which operated there since the mid-19th century.
