KAI Aerospace Museum, Aviation museum in Sacheon, South Korea.
The KAI Aerospace Museum is an aviation museum in Sacheon, South Korea, with two indoor halls called Freedom Hall and Aerospace Hall, plus an open-air area where additional aircraft are parked. Military jets, civilian planes, and older historical aircraft from different periods are all part of the collection.
The museum was established to gather aircraft that had served in the Korean War and other 20th-century conflicts. Over time, it expanded to include exhibits on South Korea's own aircraft development program.
The museum shows how South Korea moved from receiving foreign military aircraft to building its own. The Aerospace Hall displays models that Korean engineers designed and produced domestically.
The museum sits near the KAI facility on the outskirts of Sacheon and can be reached by public transportation, though a taxi is often more convenient. Visiting both indoor halls and the outdoor area takes several hours, so arriving in the morning is a good idea.
Among the outdoor exhibits stands a Boeing B-29 Superfortress, a World War II bomber that is rarely found in museums outside the United States. Visitors can walk right up to it and look at the aircraft from very close range.
