Cardrona Bra Fence

The Cardrona Bra Fence is a metal fence alongside Cardrona Valley Road between Wanaka and Queenstown, completely covered with colorful bras in various fabrics and styles. The display stretches along the roadside and grows with constant additions from passing travelers.

The display started in the late 1990s when a few bras were hung on the fence by chance, beginning an unexpected trend. What started as a small incident has grown into a known landmark that draws travelers from all over.

The fence has become a place where visitors publicly show their support for breast cancer awareness through a simple, direct action. People stop to look at the colorful display and learn about the cause it represents.

You can access the fence from a designated parking area near Cardrona Distillery, making it easy to pull over and view the display. Bring cash or small bills if you want to donate to the collection box on site.

The fence has unexpectedly become a working fundraiser for breast cancer research, collecting donations week after week from passersby. This ordinary roadside display grew into something meaningful through the simple actions of travelers, without any formal organization behind it.
