Les Trois Becs

Les Trois Becs is a mountain summit in La Chaudière featuring three distinct limestone peaks that rise to 1589 meters and dominate the Massif du Diois landscape. The three crests are connected by saddle points, and their recognizable profile makes them visible from various viewpoints in the surrounding valleys.

The mountain has served as a pastoral passage since the Middle Ages, when shepherds and their flocks moved seasonally between pastures on traditional routes. These ancient paths still form the basis of the hiking network connecting the three peaks today.

Local mountaineering clubs regularly organize guided expeditions to the three summits, teaching visitors about regional geology and mountain safety.

The hiking route begins at the Col de la Chaudière parking area and is marked with yellow blazes that guide visitors clearly across all three peaks. The circuit is approximately 9 kilometers long and requires moderate hiking skills and sturdy footwear.

A notable section called Pas de Siarra features a protective dry stone wall that prevents falls while keeping the mountain path looking natural and untouched. This traditional construction reveals how local communities have created safe passage through difficult terrain for generations.
