El Nicho Waterfall, Natural waterfall in Topes de Collantes Nature Reserve, Cuba

El Nicho is a waterfall system in the Escambray Mountains with multiple cascades and natural pools fed by mountain springs. The site spreads across the terrain, creating different areas for exploration and swimming.

The waterfall area has been a central feature of the Escambray Mountains since colonial times, serving as a landmark between Cienfuegos and Trinidad. This natural formation shaped the region and remains an important local reference point.

On weekends, locals come to swim in the pools while traditional Cuban music plays from the nearby restaurant.

A marked trail of about 1.5 kilometers connects various viewing points and swimming areas throughout the site. Wear appropriate footwear and take care on wet or slippery sections of the path.

The water in the natural pools stays cool throughout the year because it is fed by mountain springs. This constant cool temperature makes the area a refreshing swimming destination regardless of the season.
