The Old Summer Palace, also known as Yuanmingyuan, was a magnificent imperial garden in Beijing.
Constructed in the early 18th century, it served as a summer residence for Qing dynasty emperors until its destruction in 1860 during the Second Opium War.
A symbol of cultural opulence, the Old Summer Palace showcased traditional Chinese architecture blended with Western influences.
Though now in ruins, the site is open to visitors who wish to explore its history and the remaining structures.
Known as the 'Garden of Gardens' for its extensive collection of gardens and artworks, much of which was looted or destroyed.
