Schloss Hohenkammer, Renaissance castle and restaurant in Hohenkammer, Bavaria, Germany
Schloss Hohenkammer is a four-wing Renaissance structure in Bavaria with four corner towers and a square gatehouse, featuring a courtyard ringed by arcaded galleries. The entire building displays Renaissance architectural details throughout its design.
Construction began after 1551 when the Counts of Haslang built it as a residence. A major fire in 1648 destroyed much of the building, but reconstruction work restored its Renaissance character.
The castle houses a restaurant run by a dedicated chef that has become known for fine dining in the region. Local food traditions blend with contemporary cooking techniques here.
The castle now operates as a conference center and hotel with meeting spaces and digital facilities for events. Visitors can explore the grounds and dine at the restaurant, with good accessibility from nearby Munich.
A notable feature is the direct connection to Gut Eichethof farm, where the establishment grows and processes much of the restaurant's ingredients itself. This level of control over food production is unusual among fine dining establishments.
