Spiaggia di Sampieri
Sampieri Beach is a sandy shore with fine golden sand near Scicli in southeastern Sicily. The water is clear and shallow close to the shore, with turquoise to blue shades, while high sand dunes covered in low vegetation border the beach.
The area has been home to fishermen for centuries who used small boats to make their living. Nearby stands an abandoned brick factory called Penna di Pisciotto, used long ago to manufacture bricks and later made famous by the television series Commissioner Montalbano.
The village name comes from a family that once lived in this area. The houses are simple and colorful, appearing to rise directly from the water, and the main street is often filled with people strolling or dining at local restaurants along the shore.
The area is easy to reach by car with parking nearby, though finding a free spot during busy times may be difficult. There are outdoor showers, toilets, umbrellas and sunbed rentals, and bars and restaurants right on the beach.
The place became known as a filming location for the Italian television series Commissioner Montalbano, making it popular with fans of the show. The abandoned brick factory Penna di Pisciotto, prominently featured in the series, stands on a high cliff overlooking the bay, making it an industrial landmark.
