Boot Café, Coffee house in the Marais, Paris, France
Boot Café is a small coffee house in the Marais neighborhood of Paris, set inside a former shoe repair shop with a blue facade. Inside, the space is very compact, with white tiles on the walls, a marble counter, colorful chairs, and fresh flowers on the tables.
The building originally served as a shoe repair shop, and the café takes its name directly from that past use. When the space was converted into a coffee house, the owners kept the original blue facade and the vintage door fittings, so traces of the former workshop are still visible today.
Boot Café kept the original sign reading 'Cordonnerie,' the French word for a shoe repair shop, above its blue facade. This detail connects the coffee shop visually to its former life as a workshop in the Marais.
The café has only two tables inside, so ordering a drink to go and enjoying it while walking through the Marais is a common and practical choice. If you want a seat, arriving early in the morning or outside of busy hours gives you a better chance.
The café sources its coffee from Belleville Brûlerie, a small roaster based near the Buttes-Chaumont park in northern Paris. A sign on the wall reads 'these coffees are made for walking,' which is a playful nod to the takeaway culture that the place helped bring to the Marais.
